About David Crush

Portrait of David Crush

I’m a software engineer by trade and a writer by compulsion. I’m neurodivergent — autistic and ADHD — and that shapes how I think, how I focus, and how I process the world. This site is a creative outlet for the ideas that accumulate in my head: the connections I notice between unrelated things, the arguments I can’t stop picking apart, the questions that don’t have clean answers.

What I Write About

I plan to write about professional wrestling, politics, technology, philosophy, religion, and history — sometimes separately, often in the same essay. Wrestling matters to me for the same reasons the other topics do: it is a lens on performance, power, narrative, and what audiences choose to believe. The through-line is not a single ideology but a habit of attention — looking closely at how systems, stories, and institutions actually work.

How I Write

I aim for an academic tone: clear claims, defined terms where it helps, and enough structure that a reader can follow the argument and disagree with it on the merits. I try to be honest about my assumptions and biases rather than perform neutrality I don’t have. If I cite a source, I mean for you to be able to check it. If I’m speculating, I try to say so. The goal is not to win every argument but to think in public with enough rigor that the thinking is worth your time.
